In June, Phoenix’s Uptown Magazine featured an inspiring cover story about Coppersmith Brockelman’s Andy Gordon and his crusade to increase awareness, funds and support through his work as a board member and Chairman of The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Arizona chapter (LLS).

At age 60, Andy was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer, just twelve years after he lost his first wife to the very same cancer. The odds of developing this same cancer was a one in 14 million possibility. But thanks in part to his treatment involving stem cell transplantation, he is living a richer, fuller life.

A seasoned senior litigator with 40 years of experience and a national reputation in business, antitrust, health care law, government contracting, and procurement and appeals, he is also an active member of LLS’s Team In Training, which is a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, cycling and hiking event and training program within the organization. Since becoming involved, Andy has raised more than $150,000 for LLS through Team In Training Arizona.

Andy was also recognized for his uniquely human touch.

“One of the things I do with LLS is talk to people who have just been diagnosed,” he explains. “It’s important for them to hear from someone going through this that life is not over, and you have your full life in front of you.”
