Andy Gaona Named to Arizona Capitol Times’ Inaugural Power 50 List
Arizona Capitol Times has selected Partner Andy Gaona for its first-ever Power 50 list, honoring him as one of the state’s most impactful leaders. Comprised of 50 individuals who hold the power to shape Arizona’s political and civic landscape, the list spans the full spectrum of statewide influence — from policymakers and legal professionals to community advocates — recognizing those who move Arizona forward.
Andy has been at the forefront of many of Arizona’s most important issues, recently spending two years working with major abortion rights groups to advance the Abortion Access Act and enshrine abortion protections into the Arizona Constitution. This effort gained widespread visibility following the Arizona Supreme Court’s opinion in Planned Parenthood v. Mayes, where he represented Planned Parenthood and presented oral arguments on its behalf.
He also serves as Gov. Katie Hobbs’ go-to outside counsel in important cases and regularly advises candidates, political action committees, nonprofits, trade groups, and others engaged in local policymaking and advocacy.
Andy’s inclusion follows a recent honor as Best Capitol/Political Lawyer at the 2025 Best of the Capitol Awards — also presented by Arizona Capitol Times — for his exceptional work in election and political law.
An experienced political, election, and constitutional law attorney, Andy plays a critical role in the practice’s biggest cases. He has been recognized by Southwest Super Lawyers, Chambers USA, and The Best Lawyers in America. Additionally, in 2022, he was named to Phoenix Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.
