Jacki Anderson is a seasoned trial attorney with deep experience in voting rights, civil rights, and complex litigation. She represents clients in high-stakes matters involving election law, constitutional challenges, and regulatory issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Jacki led federal voting rights cases within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, including challenges to redistricting plans and matters involving absentee ballot laws. Additionally, she led investigations and provided legal guidance to state and local election officials regarding compliance with federal civil voting statutes.

Jacki’s background includes litigation roles at top national law firms, where she handled constitutional and commercial disputes across trial and appellate courts. Throughout her career, she has maintained a strong commitment to public service and pro bono work, with a focus on civil rights and systemic reform.

Representative Matters

  • Served as lead trial attorney in United States v. Fayette County, et al., a case challenging county commissioner redistricting in Fayette County as violating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act
  • Served as lead trial attorney for the United States in International Alliance of Theater Stage Employees Local 927 v. Mashburn, a case challenging Georgia’s absentee ballot application deadline under Section 202 of the Voting Rights Act
  • Represented the United States in a case challenging Texas’ congressional and state legislative redistricting as violating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act
  • Represented the United States in submitting a statement of interest arguing that North Dakota’s ballot receipt deadline for mail-in ballots did not conflict with the federal election day statutes
  • Led investigations of violations of federal civil voting laws and drafted enforcement memoranda
  • Conducted outreach and advised state election directors regarding compliance with the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act
  • Conducted outreach and advised election officials regarding compliance with Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act
  • Served as a trial team member in Jacobson v. Lee, a case that challenged a Florida election statute as unconstitutional, conducting cross-examination of an elected official and direct examination of a fact witness
  • Represented plaintiffs in McLemore v. Hosemann, a case challenging Mississippi’s statewide officeholder election system
  • Represented plaintiffs in Love v. Johnson, a case challenging the constitutionality of a former policy of the Michigan Secretary of State that made it unduly burdensome or impossible for transgender individuals to change the gender marker on their driver’s licenses
