By targeting individual law firms like Perkins Coie and directing the Department of Justice to scrutinize others that have litigated against the federal government, the current Administration’s actions threaten the independence of the legal profession and the fundamental right to counsel. Our justice system depends on lawyers’ ability to provide representation to their clients without fear of political retribution. We refuse to be silent in the face of these threats.
