Andy Gordon shared his views on issues related to Guantanamo Detention Center (GTMO) in a recent Q&A with ASU Now. Andy discussed GTMO’s role and why it is still in operation, explaining that the George W. Bush administration chose to place the detention center in Guantanamo in 2001 in order to interrogate potential enemy combatants outside of the Middle East and U.S. jurisdiction.
