Partner Mel Soliz recently presented two sessions at the 2026 AzHIMA Annual Meeting, addressing practical compliance challenges for health information management professionals. In the first session, “From Regulation to Workflow: Operationalizing Compliance for Sensitive Health Data,” Mel discussed how organizations can translate HIPAA, Arizona-sensitive health data laws, 42 CFR Part 2, and other federal and state privacy requirements into workable operational processes. The presentation focused on practical issues such as data classification, consent management, role-based access, disclosure review, audit controls, breach response, and vendor contracting. Keeping abreast of the ever-changing United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) data policy is challenging. That is why the Arizona Health Information Management Association (AzHIMA) asked Mel Soliz to speak about what’s new, what’s coming, and what’s most important about USCDI at its 2021 Fall Meeting. In her presentation, “Evolving Data Policy: What Health Care Providers Need to Know about USCDI v2,” Mel reviewed the guiding principles behind USCDI, how USCDI v2 compares to USCDI v1, what’s on the horizon for the USCDI (including v3 and USCDI+), and how the USCDI interacts with other laws. Mel Soliz Educates AzHIMA Health Care Providers on New Industry Rules

The Arizona Health Information Management Association (AzHIMA) invited Melissa Soliz to present during live and pre-recorded sessions during their Virtual Annual Conference to help health care professionals and organizations navigate new legal requirements in the industry. Mel provided expertise regarding The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology’s (ONC) Information Blocking Rule and the Patient Access Final Rule.   During the Nov. 4 live session, Mel covered practices likely to interfere with the access, exchange, and use of electronic health information.
